Agia Triada

Leaving the New Passengers in the direction of Nea Michaniona, one comes across the village of Agia Triada, whose main residential core is located at the bottom of the provincial road towards the sea. Agia Triada, together with Peraia and N. Epivates, are located on the most beautiful coast of Thermaikos gulf and are one of the most famous resorts of Thessaloniki, an ideal place for quiet and relaxing holidays by the sea.

BRIEF HISTORY

The area of Agia Triada during the Turkish occupation was called “White Faucet”. After the Asia Minor disaster, families from the villages of Exastero, Pontoirakleia in Asia Minor and from Economeio – today’s city of Koumburgas – which was located very close to the town of Epivates, settled there. On the beach of Agia Triada there is a monument, with part of a column that was brought from the Church of the Economy of the Dormition of the Virgin.

Until 1948, the settlement was successively part of the Community of Epanomi (until 1926), the Community of Peria (until 1927) and the Community of New Passengers (until 1948), when it was designated as the seat of the Community of Agia Triada.

In the 1960s-1970s, Agia Triada hosted daily thousands of visitors from Thessaloniki who arrived here on the ships “Lefki”, “Hellas”, “Eudokia”, “Nautilus” from the White Tower. The same boats came and went all day, carrying people, who also disembarked in Perea, N.Epivates (Baxe Tsiflik) and Michaniona. There in the crystal clear waters, they swam and then ate by the sea, in the taverns that served seafood.
